Our chickens live in what we call the "Chicken Mansion", giving them lots of room to nest and an outdoor covered playpen. When we are actively out on the farm, we open the playpen and allow the chickens to free range on our farm.
Because we appreciate the value of the "Bloom" on the egg, we don't pasturize or wash our eggs. The "Bloom" is a protective layer that the hen produces when laying her egg. The bloom protects the egg from any bacteria getting inside by sealing the 6,000-8,000 shell pores. We believe in allowing mother nature do her job instead of intervening with food care methods that may not really benefit your body in the way that nutrition intended. Wash your eggs with warm water and a scrubber before consuming.
